LegalPub.com, Inc. (hereinafter “LegalPub” “we,” “our” or “us”) owns and maintains this website. Below are LegalPub’s customer service policies governing use of this website and the purchase of LegalPub’s products. By using this website, the user agrees to accept all policies, terms, and conditions stated below.
No-Risk Trial Examination
Our books are available for a 30-day trial examination for U.S. based customers. At the end of that period, customers may return the books for a refund or credit, subject to our return policy (see below).
Professor’s Desk Copy
A professor who has adopted or is considering adopting one of our books for a course can request a complimentary desk copy using our Contact page. Please click the “Professor’s Desk Copy” subject on the Contact page and fill in the following fields:
- professor’s name
- school name
- course name and when it will be taught
- title & edition of the book requested
- the address where the book is to be shipped
Orders for Schools
Note that we do not sell our books through Amazon. For orders for schools, we ask that the professor who is assigning the book request the school’s bookstore to place an order with us. (See below.) If your school does not have a bookstore, students can order directly from this website.
Bookstore Orders
Bookstores and other resellers can order our books by using this website’s product page shopping cart, by calling us, or by faxing or emailing us a purchase order (call for email address). Note that each book’s ISBN number can be found on the respective product page of this website.
Prices, Discounts & Availability
Prices and discounts are listed on our Products page. We have two types of discounts, “Volume” and “Reseller”. Volume discounts are available to anyone (including resellers) ordering on this website. They are based on the total cost of the books ordered and are calculated automatically by the website shopping cart. Resellers can instead opt for the Reseller discount by ordering via phone, fax or email (call for email address). The Reseller discount is a flat 15% off the single unit list price. All prices, discounts and product availability are subject to change without notice.
Books in Electronic or PDF Format
Sorry, but we do not sell or have copies of our books in electronic or PDF format. Our books are available only in paperback.
Annual Subscriptions
Our annual edition books (the Federal Civil Rules Booklet and the United States Bankruptcy Code & Rules Booklet) are published in December of each year and can be purchased by subscription.
Creating a subscription. To create an annual subscription, follow the steps below.
- Register for an account using “My Account” and enter basic information (address, payment method, etc).
- Go to the “Products” tab and click on an available product to go to its Product page.
- Click the “Annual subscription” button, type a quantity, and click the green “Sign up now” button.
- Click the “View Cart” button and complete the Checkout process.
Starting your subscription. Which edition your subscription order starts with depends on when your subscription order is first submitted. January through October: New subscription orders submitted during this period start with that year’s current edition. When your order is received, your card is charged for your chosen product(s) and that year’s current edition is promptly shipped to you. Your subscription is also scheduled for renewal on December 1st. On that date, your card will be charged for the next year’s edition and the latter will be shipped to you in January. November & December: New subscription orders submitted during this period start with the next year’s edition. Your card will be charged when your order is received and the next year’s edition will be shipped to you in January.
Updating, auto renewing, and canceling your subscription. Each November, we will email you a reminder that you have an active subscription and, if necessary, to update your contact information, payment method, and the number & selection of books. To update your contact information and payment method, edit that information in My Account. To update the number & selection of books, simply cancel your existing subscription (using the “Subscriptions” link in My Account) and create a new subscription (follow steps 2 – 4, above). Subscriptions automatically renew on December 1st of each year. (Note: renewal notices and invoices will reference your original order from when you started your subscription. However, you will be shipped the newest edition when it becomes available in January.) Subscriptions can be canceled at any time using the “Subscriptions” link in My Account.
Payment Terms
New customers may be required to pre-pay until credit is established. Established customers in the U.S. have a NET 30 day open account. For late payment, we reserve the right to assess finance charges at the rate of 1.5 percent per month and to hold, refuse, or require prepayment on orders.
Payment Methods
For website orders, payment is made through either PayPal or Stripe, both of which securely accept all major credit and debit cards. For non-website orders, we accept payment by check, money order, and most major credit cards. For the latter, we will email you an electronic invoice which you can pay securely on-line. We accept purchase orders from established U.S. based book stores and government agencies.
Sales Tax
For non-exempt customers with shipment to Massachusetts, please add 6.25% sales tax. Exempt customers with shipment to Massachusetts must submit to LegalPub a properly completed Sales Tax Exempt Purchaser Certificate (Form ST-5) signed by the 501(c)(3) organization with a copy of its Form ST-2 attached. Such forms should be submitted with each purchase unless the “Blanket certificate” box in Form ST-5 part 3 is checked.
Shipping
We normally ship the same or next business day from when we receive your order. If you provide us with your email address, we can email you the tracking number and a copy of the invoice.
For smaller orders, we normally ship via USPS first class or priority mail (usually 1-5 business days). Larger orders are normally shipped via UPS ground (usually 1-5 business days). Shipping & handling costs are set forth on our Products page. Additional charges will apply to the following: orders with more than one ship-to address; orders that must be reshipped due to an expired, incorrect, insufficient or undeliverable address; and upgraded shipping service (if available) beyond the way we normally ship.
Orders reported by the carrier as “delivered” but not received. We find that this situation occurs most often with students who are renting an apartment that is new to them. The customer should promptly contact the local office of the carrier and report the delivery as “missing.” The carrier can usually determine the place of delivery by the GPS delivery scan. Customers with orders reported by the carrier as “delivered” but not received must look solely to the carrier or building management for any claim or recourse.
In lieu of our shipping & handling charge, customers may provide us with their UPS collect account number. Be sure to tell us which level of UPS service you would like us to use (e.g., ground, next day, 2d day, etc.).
Note that we do not accept orders from or ship to locations outside of the United States.
Return Policy
Books ordered from LegalPub may be returned in unmarked and salable condition within 30 days of the order date for a full refund or credit, less our shipping & handling charge and any credit card merchant fee incurred by LegalPub. Exceptions: we do not accept returns from book stores or other resellers, sales with pricing or discount different than that stated on our Products page, and sales of books with customized covers. You must provide our original invoice or packing slip with your return. LegalPub’s acceptance of any return requests and/or returns is subject to our timely receiving and our inspection of the items sought to be returned.
Return of books that were received in damaged or defective condition must be made within 30 days of the order date. Remedy is limited to replacement with new books of the same title. For customized books received in damaged or defective condition, remedy is limited to Legalpub’s choice of replacement with new customized books of the same title or a refund of the amount paid to LegalPub for the books.
How to make a return. On our Contact page, click the “Return Request” subject, fill in the required fields, and submit. If your return request is accepted, we will email you a Return Authorization Number (“RA#”). Include the RA# in the shipping address of your return. All returns without an RA# will be refused. The customer is responsible for paying the cost of shipping the return. Ship the books along with our original invoice or packing slip to the following address using a carrier that will provide tracking:
RETURNS DEPT. RA# [insert the RA# that we provided]
LegalPub.com, Inc.
113 East Bare Hill Road
Harvard, MA 01451-1856
Returns that comply with our Return Policy will be issued a refund or other remedy as provided above. For refunds, orders paid by credit card will be refunded to the same card. Orders that were paid by check will be refunded by check. Orders invoiced and not yet paid will have a credit applied to the invoice.
